Ever wanted to play with Luna, but not sure how to start?

Well, we’re making it easy for you. Really easy.

Over the next two months, we are continuing development on our newest devised piece, GENERATION SEX. Maybe you heard some of the Gen Sex stories at our first workshop at Instituto Cervantes, or you saw us at the Chicago Fringe Festival. Or maybe you were in the audience in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Berkeley or Seattle over the summer and you shared your own experiences at our story collecting workshops. Now it’s time to see how the Lunaticas build the plays once we’ve collected the stories.

Teatro Luna is hosting two development sessions for Generation Sex that are open to the community. If you’re a longtime fan who wants to be part of the action, or a newcomer to Chicago who wants to see what we’re all about, these development sessions are perfect for you. You’ll learn some basic lingo of our devising process and how to tell your story, all within the safe cocoon of a Luna workspace.

Open Development Dates:
Tuesday, November 19, 6:30-9:30pm
Saturday, December 8, 6-9pm

Don’t know what Generation Sex is about yet? Here is the latest description we are playing with:

In GENERATION SEX, Luna bares all without blushing as we explore how technology has changed how we engage in sex, relationships, and the use of social media to broadcast  identity politics and moral codes. Can we Instagram loneliness? Has Facebook replaced family? What is the art of seduction in a digital world that leaves little to the imagination?  From sexting to Skype to online dating, the Ladies of Luna explode expectations about the search for love, satisfaction,  and  the new rules of feminism in 140 characters or less.
Generation Sex development began in March 2013 with a performance workshop at Instituto Cervantes Chicago, continued with story-collecting workshops in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Berkeley, Seattle,  and a five performance workshop at the Chicago Fringe Festival. Generation Sex is Luna’s newest play-in-progress and the company’s tenth original devised piece in thirteen years.

Email info@teatroluna.org to RSVP and get the location. We hope to see you there!

PS: there is always food, laughter, and real talk at these sessions- come on by if this sounds like the best kind of time ; )
